Nice and the Riviera at your feet

You can enjoy sun and sea, art and music, great shops and countryside — all within easy reach of your Nice holiday appartment.

Imagine the perfect day: nip down to the baker to buy croissants, then amble to the beach after breakfast and stay till noon. Come home for a cool siesta at the flat, spend the aftenoon shopping in the Old Quarter and dine at one of the city’s celebrated restaurants. Nice is a major retail hub for the region, where all the main brands have outlets.

Many artists settled on the coast to celebrate its unparalleled quality of light. Visit one of the many museums to admire a Chagall, perhaps, or a Matisse. Or hop across the Italian border for the great market at Ventimiglia then cook up some Mediterranean dishes over a glass of wine at the flat.

Nice looks towards Italy on one side and the celebrity town of Cannes on the other. If offers excellent transport links whether you want to explore the coast or the scenic interior – and with a fantastic climate, you’ll never be short of ideas in Nice.

Races and festivals

The annual Formula 1 race takes place in Monaco, an easy train ride away, each May. If you’re around in February, the Lemon Festival (Fête du Citron) might tempt you to Menton. Nice hosts a Jazz Festival in July.

There’s always something to do in Nice.

Stunning countryside within easy reach

Nice has even more to offer than its famous coastline.

Take a tram, bus or train into the the mountains and a world of hiking opens out to you. As well as winter skiing facilities, a network of long-distance footpaths criss-crosses the area. The more active may like to try water canyoning, canoeing or Via Ferrata mountaineering.

And if you’re not feeling up to exercise, you don’t have to walk far from your bus or train stop to enjoy breathtaking mountain views. Visit the ancient “villages perchés” or the colourful towns dotted along the Roya river. Have coffee or lunch and return to the flat by nightfall to rest. You’ll have discovered a whole other side to Nice.
