Nice as ‘destination and gateway’
Our favourite train line has made it into the travel pages of The Guardian. The Train des Merveilles, or Train of Marvels, is nicely described by Annabelle Thorpe’s evocative article published on 24th May2026. She also ventures into Nice itself as well as Antibes and Beaulieu, all places that can be reached easily by train while being based in Nice.
Thorpe doesn’t mention the sheep when writing about La Brigue – perhaps she didn’t meet any. But she did produce our favourite sentence, describing Nice as “both a destination itself and a gateway to very different worlds, all of them just a train ride away”. Very well said.
